It was all a dream...

R.I.P: The Notorious B.I.G - 14 years later

Christopher George Latore Wallace
May 21, 1972 – March 9, 1997

On March 09, 1997 at the age of 24 the world lost a giant. Rapper Christoper " The Notorious B.I.G" Wallace's life was claimed after being shot and killed in Los Angeles. BIG was at the height of his career and a few weeks short of releasing the follow up to his classic debut "Ready To Die" His second album "Life After Death" unlike his first was the transition from the streets to the stage. The ever charasmatic Wallace provided a double album of stories mixed with his trademark of dark humour and potent lyricism. "Life After Death" was the growth of an artist becoming comfortable with the fruits of his labour, a new man looking to take over the world one song a time. Without a doubt "Ready To Die" and "Life After Death" were just glimpses of the potential Wallace had. In a short time Wallace created timeless music that still lives and thrives to this day. It's still hard to believe that it's been fourteen years since the passing of one of "Brooklyns Finest"   In paying homage I thought it only right to include his last interview with BET's Rap City.
Gone but never forgotten.

Rest In Peace

Video: J.Dilla - Still Shining' (Documentary)

Legendary producer/artist J.Dilla is a wunderkind who truly touched the souls of all those who encountered his music. It's hard to believe that it's been four years since his passing. His contributions to "Hip Hop" as a culture is endless. His discography reads like a who's who of Hip Hop. From ATCQ to Common to Slum Village and more. The list seems endless. As a fan what made me pay attention was his details and genuine love for his craft. His music is timeless and records made ten years ago sound just as fresh as the the day they were created. Directed by Brian "B.Kyle" Atkins "Still Shining" is look at the man from those closest to him. Peep the breakdown of the various segments after the jump.
